School News this Month

4. Information on MySpace Web Site & Archdiocesan Internet Policy

Computers and the internet are marvelous tools that our children have available to them both at school and at home. The use of these tools allows our children to discover information that we would never have thought was possible. However, these tools can also be used for activities that we, as parents and educators , would never allow our children to participate in. The MySpace.com web site is one of these areas where STRICT PARENTAL VIGILANCE IS NEEDED . First, our students are no old enough to have an account with myspace. And secondly, there is no control over what is said or who is surfing this site. The materials included with this month’s envelope contains a letter from our school as well as some important information for all parents regarding your rights as a parent and our duty as an educational partner. If you allow your child to participate in a site such as myspace please take the time to monitor your childs use of this site closely. If you have any questions after reading the material please do not hesitate to call.
