Curriculum
St. Teresa of Avila School offers an academic curriculum which includes Religion, Family Life, Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Health, Music, Art and Physical Education. This curriculum follows the guidelines established by the Department of Catholic Schools for grades K-8.
Students in grades K, 1 and 2 participate in the WRITING TO READ computer program. The WRITE CONNECTION program carries through on the WTR principles for gades 3-8.
Our emphasis is on academic excellence, while encouraging the children to reach their full potential.

Parish-School Community
As a mulit-cultural, multi-lingual parish and school, we recognize our duty to respect and involve all members of our diverse community, in the philosophy, the curriculum and the overall activities of the school
Our school families include Catholics from both in the Parish and outside of the Parish. We also have some non-Catholic families who value a Christian education and wish to be part of our School's community.

Staff
St. Teresa of Avila School is under the Administration of a catholic lay principal. Our staff members are experienced, qualified Religious, Catholic Christian lay teachers and aides.
Our Pastor, Associate Pastor, Parish Sister, Parish Deacon and Parish Ministers participate in school activities throughout the school year.

Accreditation and Certificaation
St. Teresa of Avila School is Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and Certified by Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA).

Registration and Entrance Requirements
Applications for registration are accepted during the months of JANUARY and FEBRUARY of each year.
When appliying for any grade, parents are required to bring the following for each child -
- Birth certificate,
- Baptismal certificate,
- First Communion certificate,
- Most recent report card,
- Records of each child's current immunization.
Readiness testing is done for all students entering our school, grades K through 8. Test dates are available at the time you complete your application appointment for registration.
Priority for acceptance, when space is available:
- Current school families;
- Catholics registered in our Parish;
- Catholics not registered in our Parish;
- Non-Catholics
A Tuition and Fees Agreement details the yearly charges for each of the categories listed. A copy is available in the school office. Financial aid is available for qualifying families.

After-School Extended Day Program
An extended day program is available for students of working parents. Children are supervised from dismissal time until as late as 6:00 PM, when they would be picked up by parents or a designated adult.
Students in the program would be occupied in supervised homework-study time, supervised play, arts and crafts and other appropriate activities.
There is a spearate monthly fee per child or per family for this program. An additional charge is assessed per child for a late pick-up, after 6:00PM.

Open House
St. Teresa of Avila School welcomes all prospective parents and students to visit our campus and classrooms during our annual Catholic Schools Week Open House, celebrated on the last week of January.
Two days are available to visit: the last Sunday of January = 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM and the last Wednesday of January = 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM
After January, individual visits are welcome with an appointment. Call the school office for assistance.
